Can the Anti Cigarette Law in England Take Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Internet?

[ English ]

Much has been stated in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry being hit as a result of the anti smoking law in England. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big aid to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. But will the online version of this classic game provide a reprieve, or will it never compare to its real life peer?

Bingo has been an enduring game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game recently had seen a recent comeback in appeal with younger members of society deciding to hit the bingo halls in place of the clubs on a Saturday night. This is all about to change with the enacting of the cigarette ban around United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be able to puff on cigarettes at the same time dabbing numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public location will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favored locations where players enjoy smoking.

The effects of the anti cigarette law can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already illegal in the bingo parlors. Players have plunged and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Certainly they have not forgotten this ancient game?

The answer is on the web. Gamblers know that they can enjoy bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beer and fag and still enjoy big prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened almost perfectly with the ban on smoking.

Of course betting on online is unlikely to replace the communal portion of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of players the law has left a lot of bingo players with no alternative.
