Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That’s owing to the fact that the Amerindian bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for generations. Clients from many of the nearby states load up in automobiles and travel to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a landmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the 39 Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have opened bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the gambling laws, and at this time control 10 gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling dens were built on. automated games like slot machine games were not authorized, because they are believed to lead to gambling addiction more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma rules has changed to allow for large Native wagering gambling dens. You will now see Amerindian gambling halls with one armed bandits, video poker and twenty-one tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Amerindian casinos as of yet, but that is simply a matter of time. No one can authority what having different games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
