Will the Anti Cigarette Law in England Take Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

Much has been reported in the papers just a while ago about the bingo industry singing the blues as a consequence of the cigarette ban in the UK. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive tax breaks to assist in keeping the industry afloat. However does the net version of this classic game present a lifeline, or might it never compare to its land based equivalent?

Bingo is an ancient game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game of late had seen a recent increase in appeal with younger people deciding to visit the bingo parlours rather than the clubs on a weekend. All this is about to change with the introduction of the smoking ban all over United Kingdom.

No more will gamblers be allowed to puff on cigarettes at the same time marking numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 every public place will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most popular places where people like to puff on cigarettes.

The outcome of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo parlors. Players have plummeted and the business is absolutely struggling for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Of course they have not cast aside this age old game?

The answer is on the net. People realise that they can play bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, enjoy big prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course wagering on on the internet can never replace the communal portion of heading down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of players the rules have left a lot of bingo players with no choice.
